About the Event
This Conference will be worth 6 hours of CEUs in Texas
Incorporating Modern Attachment Theory and Relational Neuroscience in Clinical Practice (6 hours)
Learning Objectives:
- Evaluate the limitations of traditional attachment categories and explore the use of an attachment spectrum
- Explore how focusing on states of security can deepen secure functioning more quickly and efficiently than a focus on developing secure attachment
- Understand  the most salient aspects of relational neurobiology and how they can be  used clinically to enhance attachment security
- Identify two ways the lens of attachment "insecurity" can be misapplied due to systems that perpetuate the status quo
Conference Overview:
Attachment theory has evolved considerably over the past seven decades, and it isn't easy for most busy social workers to stay current. This workshop will bring you into a contemporary understanding of adult attachment research and practice. We will weave in the most salient aspects of relational neurobiology in a way that is easy to teach and use in session. Finally, we will expand the conceptualization of attachment to include systems that create insecurity and discuss leveraging historical context and community to be part of the healing process. Each of these concepts will be discussed with an eye toward concrete clinical application, and a model will be presented that can be used directly with clients during sessions.
